Based on the Cayenne S, the Transsyberia will use the same 405 horsepower 4.8L V8 used in the Porsche Cayenne GTS. That power will be routed through a six-speed manual transmission, although the final drive ratio has been dropped to 4.1:1, resulting is a 0-60 sprint of 6.1 seconds – a half second quicker than the standard Cayenne S. Porsche’s six-speed automatic transmission is optional.
Although Porsche is best known for its legendary sports cars, the company’s Cayenne SUV has won plenty of accolades of its own. In fact, the big ‘ute has dominated the Transsyberia Rally in recent years, even nabbing the top six spots in this year’s race. In order to commemorate its success, Porsche announced on Monday that it will soon launch a limited edition Cayenne S Transsyberia.
The Transsyberian package will be available in several unique color combinations, including Black/Orange; Crystal Silver Metallic/Orange; Black/Meteor Grey Metallic and Meteor Grey Metallic/Crystal Silver Metallic. All but the Meteor Grey Metallic/Crystal Silver Metallic color combination will come with 18 inch wheels, skid plates and air inlets decked out in the same contrasting color combinations.
The Transsyberia’s color schemes will continue throughout the SUV’s interior.
No cost options include Transsyberia decals adorning the bottom section of the Cayenne’s doors and an off-road spec light bar.
The Porsche Cayenne Transsyberia will debut at next month’s Paris Motor Show, with European sales beginning in January. North American sales will begin after that, with 600 units earmarked for our shores.
